Lectotype major worker and 1 paralectotype major worker labelled ‘ Pheidole pallidula arenarum v. orientalis Emery’, ‘Peloponesus +Iul 5’ [interpretation of poorly legible handwriting of Emery], ‘ANTWEB CASENT 0904193’, ‘SYNTYPUS Pheidole pallidula arenarum orientalis Emery’, ‘top specimen: Lectotype Pheidole pallidula ssp. orientalis Müller 1923 [Emery 1915], des. B.Seifert 2015 ’; stored in Museo Civico die Storia Naturale Genova. The lectotype is photographed in antweb.org under CASENT 0 904193. The pin contains four majors belonging to two species. Counted from top to bottom, these are: 1st = lectotype of Ph. koshewnikovi , 2nd = paralectotype of Ph. koshewnikovi ; 3rd and 4th: Ph. balcanica nov. sp.
