Diagnosis. Clypeus yellow with two laterobasal black areas; supraclypeal and interalveolar areas yellow (Fig 4); pronotal lobe with yellow macula (Fig. 12); punctures of basal half of the second tergum sparse, punctures separated by more than a puncture diameter ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ); third to sixth terga coarsely punctate, punctures separated by less than a puncture diameter; sixth and seventh terga with large yellow band, wider medially on the sixth tergum; sixth tergum with median projection elongated, acute ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ).
Description. Holotype male.
Color: Integument predominantly black, except the following yellow areas: mandible with margins ferruginous and teeth black; clypeus except two basal black areas; lower parocular area; and narrow postocelar band (Fig.
4). Antennae ferruginous, scape, pedicel and first two flagellomeres amber. Mesosoma black with the following yellow areas: pronotal lobe with small spot; laterobasal band on mesoscutum; distal band on scutellum and axillar maculae. Tegulae amber; wing membrane mostly brown infumated, darker at base and at costal margin (Figs. 12, 23). Legs almost totally amber, except fore and middle coxae with basal black area; median trochanter and femur with basal area dark ferruginous; hind leg with coxa black and with large yellow maculae; trochanter and femur amber with large dark brown maculae on external surface; tibia and two basal tarsomeres amber, tibia with brown macula on external surface; remaining tarsomeres ferruginous. Basal tergum with large yellow band; second tergum with yellow lateroventral band; third to fifth terga with discal yellow band, distal half of terga yellowish amber with translucent margin; sixth and seventh terga with wider yellow band at middle and thinner translucent margin ( Figs. 26, 29 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ). Basal sternum yellowish ferruginous; second sternum with wider lateral yellow band; third and fourth sterna ferruginous on the base and translucent yellow on the remaining surface; fifth and sixth sterna translucent ferruginous.
Pilosity, punctures and structure as in Mielkeanthidium albertinoi sp. nov.
Measurements (mm): approximate body length 5.05; forewing length 4.02; head width 1.75; eye length 1.16; upper interocular distance 1.25; lower interocular distance 0.82.
Type material. Holotype male. ARGENTINA, Tucumán. “ Argentina / Tucumán: 11 Km NW / Cadillal XII-4- 1993 / J. G. Rozen” ( AMNH). Paratype male: same data as holotype ( DZUP).
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality.
Comments. This is the smallest known species of Mielkeanthidium .
