Mielkeanthidium albertinoi View in CoL sp. nov.
(Figs. 1, 10, 21, 24, 28)
Diagnosis. The male of this species can be recognized by the combination of the following characters: clypeus, supraclypeal area and interalveolar area yellow, including juxtantennal carinae (Fig. 1); pronotal lobe with yellow macula (Fig. 10); punctures of basal half of second tergum scattered, punctures separated by more than a puncture diameter; third to sixth terga densely punctate, punctures separated by less than half of puncture diameter ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ); sixth and seventh terga almost totally yellow; sixth tergum with median projection short, truncate ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ).
Description. Holotype male.
Color: Integument predominantly black except by the following yellow areas: mandible except teeth and margins; clypeus, supraclypeal and interalveolar areas, macula extends dorsally including juxtantennal carinae and ends in two short and rounded lobes; lower paraocular area; gena with narrow band near the mandible; postocellar band until the upper third of gena, larger behind the eyes (Fig. 1). Antennae blackened, except scape, pedicel and first flagellomere ferruginous. Pronotal lobe with spot; mesoscutum with yellow band along anterior and lateral edges, slender laterally and reaching only first lateral half; axillae and apical half of scutellum yellow (Fig. 10). Tegula ferruginous; wing membrane mostly black infumated, darker at base and at costal margin. Fore and middle legs with coxae black and with distal amber spot, trochanters amber, basally black; femur predominantly amber with basal and posterior areas blackened and with a narrow darkish yellow band on the ventral surface; tarsus amber. Hind legs with coxa black and large yellow ventral maculae; trochanter black, with some amber areas; femur amber with large dorsal darkish area; tibia and two basal tarsomeres light brown and remaining black. Terga mostly black; first tergum with large yellow band, narrower at middle; second tergum with yellow lateroventral maculae; third to fifth terga with discal yellow band, distal half of terga yellowish amber with translucent margin; two distal terga almost totally yellow ( Figs. 24, 28 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ). Basal sternum almost totally brownish ferruginous; second sternum dark brown basally, at apex ferruginous and with two yellow lateral spots; third sternum light brown at base and translucent at apex; remaining sterna light brown.
FIGURES 1–12. Frontal (1-9) and dorsal (10-12) views of male (1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10–12) and female (3, 6, 8, 9) of Mielkeanthidium . 1, 10 M. albertinoi sp. nov.; 2, 3, 11 M. dissimile sp. nov.; 4, 12 M. tucumanum sp. nov.; 5, 6, M. nigripes ; 7, 8 M. rubripes; 9, M. ornatum . Scale = 0.5 mm (Figs. 1–9). Scale = 1.0 mm (Figs. 10–12).
Pilosity: Predominantly yellow, hairs longer than ocellar diameter; little denser and longer on the paraocular area, apex of the clypeus, pronotal lobe, apex of scutellum, sides of terga and sterna. Third sternum with apical fringe of long and arched hairs. Hairs of the paraocular area white.
Punctures: Head and mesosoma densely punctate; punctures on metasoma shallow and sparser than mesosoma. Punctures of first and second terga sparser and smaller than the remaining terga.
FIGURES 13–20. Metasoma (13–16) and dorsal views (17–20) of female. 13, 17 M. nigripes; 14, 18 M. rubripes; 15, 19 M. dissimile sp. nov.; 16, 20 M. ornatum. Scale = 0.5 mm (Figs. 13–16). Scale = 1.0 mm (Figs. 17–20).
Structure: Base of propodeum with well-developed row of pits across its upper margin; sixth tergum with an apical projection at middle; distal tergum with acute lateral lobes, lobes wider basally than distally, space between lobes about twice as wide as lobe width ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 21 – 31 ); apex of third sternum straight.
Measurements (mm): approximate body length 6.71; forewing length 4.75; head width 2.10; eye length 1.33; upper interocular distance 1.44; lower interocular distance 0.96.
Type material. Holotype male. BRAZIL, Minas Gerais. “ Brasil, MG, Berizal, Faz./ Veredão 14-XII-2007 850m,/ 15º39’53’’S 41º39’56’’W / Grossi, Rafael & Parizotto.” ( DZUP). Paratype male: same data as holotype ( DZUP).
Etymology. The specific epithet honors our friend Dr. José Albertino Rafael, Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), an important researcher of Neotropical insects and one of the members of the expedition in which the species was collected.
Variation. The paratype have a reverse J-shaped yellow macula along the anterior and lateral margins of mesoscutum and the second sternum is light brown at the base and ferruginous distally. Female. Unknown.
