Type species Cicada flavida Guérin-Méneville, 1834
Diagnosis: The Platylomia radha group includes large-sized cicadas with prominent eyes, postclypeus prominent anteriorly, head wider than base of mesonotum, pronotum shorter than mesonotum excluding cruciform elevation, outer dilation of pronotum not developed. Dentate on anterolateral margin of pronotum. Male abdomen longer than the length of the head to cruciform elevation, areas around arms of cruciform elevation usually with waxy coatings. Timbals not completely covered, fore wings hyaline or brownish hyaline, with or without infuscation on II, III, IV, and VII apical cells and at apices of longitudinal veins of apical cells. Male opercula large and broadly separated at their base with apical part rounded or triangular usually extending beyond proximal half of abdomen and are visible from dorsal view. Uncus lobes short, distal margins smooth, sinuous or with small triangular projections of variable lengths. Claspers pointed, dark brown sclerotized.
