Notes to the literature data. Part of the material reported by Drenski (1939) as Ectobia laponica [sic] kept in NMNH is herewith referred to Ectobius sylvestris View in CoL . The remaining material of E. laponica [sic] by Drenski (1939) was not found and thus is not included in this study, due to the unclear taxonomic status of the specimens. The data and localities of Ectobius lapponicus View in CoL from Alibotoush Mt, 1400–1700 m ( Drenowski 1936), are referred to E. balcani View in CoL .
Distribution in Bulgaria ( Fig. 73 View FIGURE 73 ): Distributed in the lowland and mountainous areas of northern, western and southwestern Bulgaria to 1400 m. Usually occurs in high-grass and low-shrub mesomorphic communities, found on the low vegetation and leaf litter or climb to the top of low trees and shrubs.
Studied material. 138 specimens (129 adults, 9 nymphs) and 1 ootheca.
General distribution. This species is widespread in the Palearctic ecozone, occurring from Western Europe to Eastern Siberia and from Scandinavia to the southern regions of Europe reaching Asia Minor. The species is introduced to the east coast of North America.
