Smetana, 2007: 33 ( Ocypus ; subgenus Pseudocypus ; Type locality: China, Shaanxi, Daba Shan); Smetana, 2011 ( Ocypus ; China, Sichuan, Guangwu Shan); Schülke & Smetana, 2015: 1092 ( Ocypus ; subgenus Pseudocypus ; Catalog of Palaearctic Region).

Material examined. Paratype: CHINA: Shaanxi Province: 1 male, “ China, Shaanxi prov./ Zhouzhi, Houzhenzi/ 18.-25.7.1998,1200m/ Dr.Vlad.Beneš legit// PARATYPE / Ocypus / menander / A. Smetana 2006 [Yellow rectangular card]// Coll.Dvorak” (MDC).

Additional material examined: CHINA: Shaanxi Province: 4 males, Huoditang forest farm, 1580 m, 27.VII.1998, coll. Jun Chen (IZ-CAS).

Measurements. Body length: 20.2–21.5 mm. CL: 0.75; EL: 2.85; ELS: 1.44; EW: 3.30; HL: 2.65; HW: 3.30; PO: 1.38; PL: 3.58; PW: 3.22.

Distribution. Ocypus menander is at present known only from Qinling Shan -Daba Shan range in Shaanxi Province, and Guangwu Shan in northeastern Sichuan Province.
