Material examined. Holotype ♂, Brazil: AC, Rio Branco , 1.x.2016 ( T. G.Pikart) ( MZSP, dry mounted).

Paratypes. Brazil: AC: 15 ♂, 12 ♀, same data as holotype ( MZSP, NHMB, dry and slide mounted, in 70% etha- nol) .— MT: 1 ♂, Nobres / Rosario do Oeste, Bom Jardim, -14.5282/5766 -55.8047/9174, 250– 300 m, 10.xi.2012, transitional forest (D. Burckhardt & D.L. Queiroz) #65(-) ( NHMB, slide mounted) .

Description. Adult. Colouration. Straw-coloured. A dot on either half of vertex and, sometimes, tips of genal processes orange or brown. Eyes greyish or brownish; ocelli orange. Antennal segments 1–5 yellow, tip of segments 4 and 5 dark brown to black, segments 6–8 mostly dark brown to black, light basally, segments 9 and 10 almost black. Tip of rostrum black. Mesopraescutum with two submedian patches, mesoscutum with four longitudinal stripes, metapostnotum and abdomen dorsally orange to light brown. Apical spurs on metatibia and basimetatarsus black. Base of exposed part of lateral valvulae with dark brown patch.

Structure. Vertex with big and flattened anteorbital tubercles. Genal processes 0.8–1.0 times as long as vertex along midline, adpressed medially. Antenna 4.3–5.2 times as long as head width. Forewing 2.5–2.7 times as long as head width, 2.1–2.2 times as long as broad; pterostigma moderately short, narrow at base; cell cu 1 0.8–0.9 times higher than wide; surface spinules much reduced in basal half of wing, present in apical half of wing, leaving spinule-free stripes along the veins. Metatibia 0.5–0.6 times as long as head width. Terminalia as in Figs 78, 84, 85 View FIGURES 78–95 , 96 View FIGURES 96–104 . Male proctiger 0.4 times as head width, lacking posterior lobes basally but produced and distinctly angular. Paramere lamellar, narrowed in basal third, widening to apical third and slightly tapering to apex which is blunt, in profile; with one very small, forward directed sclerotised tooth near apex in the middle; inner surface sparsely covered in long setae, denser and thicker near apex. Distal segment of aedeagus slender, S-shaped; sclerotised end tube of ductus ejaculatorius short but thick, hook-shaped, originating near base of segment. Female proctiger 0.9–1.0 times as long as head width, dorsal outline almost straight, apex slightly upturned, pointed; circumanal ring 0.3 times as long as proctiger. Female subgenital plate 0.5–0.6 times as long as proctiger, apex subacute; dorsal outline relatively straight.

Measurements (in mm) and ratios (3 ♂, 2 ♀). Head width ♂ 0.92–0.96, ♀ 0.96–0.98; antenna length ♂ 4.00– 4.64, ♀ 4.64–5.00; forewing length ♂ 2.36–2.38, ♀ 2.46–2.60; male proctiger length 0.34–0.36; paramere length 0.28–0.34; length of distal segment of aedeagus 0.28–0.30; female proctiger length 0.88–1.02.

Fifth instar immature unknown.

Etymology. Noun in apposition. From Latin basis = base and fistula = tube, referring to the very basal position of the sclerotised end tube of the ductus ejaculatorius.

Distribution. Brazil (AC, MT).

Host plant, biology and habitat. Unknown, probably a Copaifera species.—Transitional cerrado/Amazonian forest.

Comments. Jataiba basifistula differs from other copaiba psyllids as indicated in the key. It is a member of the J. uncigera -group and differs from the other species of this group in the presence of expanded fields of surface spinules in the apical half of the forewings and the distal segment of the aedeagus with the sclerotised end tube of ductus ejaculatorius positioned near the base of the segment.
