Jataiba sp.
Mitrapsylla View in CoL sp. B; Brown & Hodkinson 1988: 77.
Description. Adult. The female was described by Brown & Hodkinson (1988). The male is unknown.
Fifth instar immature unknown.
Distribution. Recorded from Panama ( Brown & Hodkinson 1988).
Host plant, biology and habitat. Unknown, probably a species of Copaifera (Fabaceae) .
Comments. This unnamed species from Panama was assigned to Mitrapsylla by Brown & Hodkinson (1988). It fits the diagnosis of Jataiba provided above and we transfer it here to this genus. It resembles Jataiba cearensis , J. cognata and J. uncigera in the long, apically pointed genal processes which converge medially, the reduction of the surface spinules on the forewing and the absence of a subbasal incision on the female subgenital plate. It differs from the three species in the longer antennae. More material including males is required for a formal species description.
