Thaumatodryinus hainanensis Xu, Olmi & He , New Species
Diagnosis of male. The male of this Thaumatodryinus species has the following diagnostic characters: scutum and scutellum granulated, not rugose; head with OOL more than four times as long as OPL; head black, except mandibles, clypeus and surface around antennal toruli testaceous; mesosoma black; forewing with a weak dark transverse band beneath the pterostigma.
Description of male. Fully winged; length 3.1 mm. Head black, except mandibles, clypeus and surface around antennal toruli testaceous; antennae testaceous; mesosoma black; gaster brown; legs testaceous. Antennae filiform; antennal segments in the following proportions: 9:7:12:16:17:17:16:16:14:17. Head dull, granulated, with numerous weak longitudinal striae on face; frontal line absent; occipital carina complete; POL = 7; OL = 3; OOL = 6; OPL = 1; TL = 4; greatest breadth of posterior ocelli much longer than OPL (4:1). Scutum dull, completely granulated. Notauli complete, posteriorly separated; minimum distance between notauli longer than greatest breadth of posterior ocelli (7:4). Scutellum shiny, granulated. Metanotum shiny, without sculpture. Propodeum dull, reticulate rugose, without transverse or longitudinal keels. Forewing with a weak dark transverse band beneath the pterostigma; distal part of stigmal vein longer than proximal part (21:15). Genitalia ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 2. 1 ) with distal apex of parameres weakly serrate. Tibial spurs 1, 1, 2.
Female. Unknown.
Material examined. Male holotype: P. R. China, Hainan Province, Jianfengling, 12-15.vii.2006, N. 200610630, Liu Jingxian coll., male holotype ( SCAU).
Etymology. hainanensis means “inhabiting Hainan province”.
