Pollux workandae Southcott, 1961

Material examined. Holotype: 1 larva, Workanda Ck, 12–19 November 1950, ex soil Berlese Funnel, ACA1468, lactic acid—glycerine jelly (J9830). Type deposition: South Australian Museum. Southcott (1961) records this species from “soil and vegetation” (vegetation is not noted on the label).

Remarks. New or corrected measurements for this species are given in Table 1 View TABLE 1 . Palpal trochanter with two setae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 14. 12 ). Scutum border clearly seen, carries a linear, rod-like crista. Anterior sensillary area triangular, carries a pair of sensilla (ASens). Posterior sensilla (PSens) similar to anterior sensilla but longer, at posterior part of crista, both sensillary setae completely barbed. One eye on each side of scutum, circular, situated just behind middle of dorsal scutum ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 14. 12 ), hypostomal seta as tiny, thorn-like. Leg setal formula is as follows: Leg I: Ta- 1ω, 2ζ, 1z, 21n; Ti- 2φ, 1κ, 11n; Ge- 1σ, 1κ, 10n; TFe- 5n; BFe- 4n; Tr- 2n. Leg II. Ta- 1ω, 2ζ, 1z, 19n; Ti- 2φ, 10n; Ge- 1κ, 10n; TFe- 5n; BFe- 3n; Tr- 3n. Leg III. Ta- 1ζ, 20n; Ti- 1φ, 11n; Ge- 10n; TFe- 5n; BFe- 3n; Tr- 3n. About 90–95 ventral setae on idiosoma. Comparison of chaetotaxy of legs for larvae of Pollux is given in Table 2 View TABLE 2 .
