Hoffmannina handleyi Brennan and Jones, 1961b: 111

Type locality: Panama, Chiriquí Province ( Brennan and Jones 1961b). Type host: Peromyscus mexicanus (= Peromyscus nudipes ) (Saussure, 1860) ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ). Type depository: USNM (holotype and paratypes), FMNH (paratypes), NHMUK (paratypes) and SAM (paratypes). Panama records. This species was found on five rodents, H. desmarestianus ( Rodentia : Heteromyidae ), Peromyscus sp. , Reithrodontomys sp. , R. mexicanus and S. teguina ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ) from Chiriquí Province ( Brennan and Jones, 1961b). Brennan and Yunker (1966) reported H. handleyi on a marsupial, D. marsupialis ( Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae ) and two rodents, P. mexicanus (= P. nudipes ) and Reithrodontomys sp. ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ) from the same province. Other records. Colombia ( Brennan, 1968).
