Remarks. The specimens in the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University (ZMMU), with red labels: Podium maracandicum Radoszkowski (synonymized with Prionyx nigropectinatus ( Taschenberg 1869) by Kohl: 1885a: 183, 1885b: 165), without the name of a designator, with the labels of Alexei P. Fedtschenko: «Самаркандъ» [cyrillic] – June 9, «Верхн.Заравш.» [cyrillic] – June 21, «Кизилъкумъ» [cyrillic] – May 13 – are females of P. niveatus (Dufour 1853) . The description of the taxon ( Radoszkowski 1877) also agrees with the description of the female of P. niveatus , but does not agree with the description of the male of Prionyx nigropectinatus (Taschenberg) .
I synonymize Prionyx afghaniensis (de Beaumont 1970) with Prionyx niveatus ( Dufour 1854) based on the examination of a photograph of the holotype and that of the original description.
