Sphex persicus Mocsáry 1883: 33 (as Persicus ). Lectotype, designated here: 3, Iran: no specific locality (TMB), examined. Sphex hispidus F. Morawitz 1890: 576 . Lectotype, designated here: Ƥ, Turkmenistan: Artchman (ZIN), examined. Tentatively synonymized with Sphex persicus by de Beaumont 1957: 130.
Prionyx persicus: Bohart & Menke 1976: 134 View in CoL ; Pulawski 2012: 20.
Material examined: 7 Ƥ, 4 3 from Iran and Turkmenistan.
Distribution: Iran, Turkmenistan.
Remark. The lectotype of Sphex hispidus F. Morawitz was collected by Hugo F. Christoph in Central Asia and donated to Ferdinand F. Morawitz.
