Herophydrus ovalis Gschwendtner, 1932 View in CoL
Herophydrus ovalis Gschwendtner, 1932: 263 View in CoL was transferred to genus Hygrotus View in CoL subgenus Hygrotus View in CoL (s. str.) by Villastrigo et al. (2017b). Thus, this name became a junior secondary homonym of Hygrotus (s. str.) ovalis ( Thunberg, 1784: 19) View in CoL , which was originally published in the binomen Dytiscus ovalis View in CoL . The latter name is currently treated as subjective junior synonym of Hygrotus (Leptolambus) impressopunctatus ( Schaller, 1783) View in CoL . Additionally, Thunberg's name is an invalid junior primary homonym of Dytiscus ovalis Ström, 1768: 328 View in CoL (which is a nomen dubium); however, both names are available names and enter into homonymy.
According to Biström & Nilsson (2002: 60), Hygrotus (s. str.) wahlbergi ( Omer-Cooper, 1956: 363) View in CoL —published in the binomen Herophydrus wahlbergi View in CoL —is a subjective junior synonym and is hereby taken to substitute Gschwendtner's name.
