Description of nymph: body length 5–8 mm; cerci length 2/3 of the body. Body brown, with numerous markings with pale, light spots.

Head: Head brown, two light spots on fore margin, two light spots on lateral margins near fore margin, two light spots on lateral of compound eyes, and two light spots near the antennal bases; a light narrow strip in front of middle ocellus ( Fig. 2a View FIGURE 2 ). Antennae dark brown.

Mouthparts: Anterior margin of labrum concave ( Fig. 2e View FIGURE 2 ), with two rows of bristles on ventral side near fore margin. Fore margin of hypopharyngeal superlinguae covered with long hair-like setae; tip of superlinguae with short hair-like setae ( Fig. 2i View FIGURE 2 ). Glossae quadrangular, paraglossae widely rounded laterally ( Fig. 2f View FIGURE 2 ). Maxillae with a row of 16–19 comb-shaped setae on anterior margin, 5th comb-shaped bristle with 8–12 pointed teeth ( Fig. 2h View FIGURE 2 ).

Thorax: Pronotum, yellowish-brown with light markings, lateral margins regularly rounded with a light line. Joint between pronotum and mesonotum smooth, without abrupt margin ( Fig. 2g View FIGURE 2 ). Mesonotum with several light brown markings. Wing veins yellowish-brown. Legs light brown, with dark brown pattern, similar to other Electrogena species ; femora with four distinct markings dorsally, distally partially fused (dark cross-like pattern on a light background) ( Fig. 2j View FIGURE 2 ). Tibiae light brown, dorsally with a dark band in the middle. Tarsi light brown, distal part darker, with two teeth on the claws. Bristles on dorsal surface of femora bluntly pointed ( Fig. 2k View FIGURE 2 ). Middle line of tibiae in middle and hind leg with rows of hair-like setae, with length greater than tibia width; fore tibiae with rows of short and less hair-like setae smaller than tibia width.

Abdomen: Abdominal terga with high contrasted markings, generally with a large dark spot on the anterior margins, tergum I and IX lighter than other terga and without any pattern, other abdominal terga dark brown with dark spot centrally, surrounded by a light semi-circle, two light spots situated posterolaterally on terga II–VIII ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ); posterior margin of terga with a dense row of spines pointed apically. Abdominal sterna light brown without any pattern. Cerci yellow to yellowish-brown. Paracercus light brown.

Gills: whitish; marginal areas light and central areas brown ( Fig. 2b, c, d View FIGURE 2 ). gill I curved backward, convex in medium and gradually rounded to the end ( Fig. 2b View FIGURE 2 ), gill IV rounded apically ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ), gill VII distally narrowed but not pointed ( Fig. 2d View FIGURE 2 ).
