Augyles niloticus (GROUVELLE, 1896)

M a t e r i a l e x a m i n e d: 4 spec. (♀♀) "KAZAHKSTAN 200 km NE Atyrau Sagyz. env. 5.VI.2000 coll. Gurko " 1 spec. in the author’s collection ; 1 spec. (♁) " KAZAKHSTAN Atyraysk area Sagiz vall. D i s t r i b u t i o n: this species is widely distributed in Africa ( CHARPENTIER 1965, MASCAGNI 2006) and is present in Saudi Arabia (SKALICKÝ 2014). First record for Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

Note: A. flavidus and A. niloticus are similar species belonging to the cribratellus group sensu CHARPENTIER (1965). Both species have 10-segmented antennae with a 6- segmented club. Their base colour and pattern are variable, and are most easily separated by the presence or absence of a clypeal horn (present in A. niloticus , absent in A. flavidus ) in male specimens, and by the morphology of the male genitalia.
