Eruga rufa Townes in Townes & Townes 1960: 240 [holotype ♀ (USNM), USA, Maryland, Bethesda , reared 27.vi.1945 from parasitized spider collected 13.vi.1945, coll. J.M. Davis; ♀ ♂, USA (South Carolina)].

Variation. The specimen from Jalisco corresponds well with the original description ( Townes & Townes 1960) but has propodeum black, contrasting with remainder brownish orange mesosoma ( Figs 28, 29 View FIGURES 27–30 ), and hind tibia white with conspicuous subbasal and apical black bands ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 27–30 ).

Material examined. MEXICO. Jalisco: 1 ♀ ( UAT) S of Tequila, north slope of Mt. Tequila , 1500 m, 23.ix.2011, coll. E. Ruíz-Cancino.

Distribution. East USA (Maryland, South Carolina), Mexico (Jalisco). First record from Mexico.

Biology. The holotype was reared from a cocoon found in the web of Frontinella communis (Hentz) ( Linyphiidae ) in USA ( Townes & Townes 1960; Gauld & Dubois 2006).
