Osbornellus quirosae Domínguez & Godoy View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs. 19a–19e)

Description. Length: 4.9–6.7 mm. Member of the O. auronitens group ( Fig. 1a). General description as in O. eberhardi .

Male genitalia: Pygofer more than twice as long as greatest width, very produced posteriorly, apices narrow and rounded; long macrosetae dispersed along distal third ( Fig. 19a). Valve triangular and wide. Plates long, pointed at apex and with filamentous setae ( Fig. 19b). Style with long apophysis, truncate at apex ( Fig. 19c). Aedeagus in ventral view with basal portion narrow; shaft straight, slender; apex truncate and slightly shorter than ventral processes ( Fig. 19d). Ventral processes parallel-sided, slightly separated for most of length, apices narrow and pointed. In lateral view shaft slender, curved dorsad, almost the same length as ventral processes; dorsal projection very stout, expanded to blunt tip. Gonopore apical. Ventral processes tapered, apices pointed, directed dorsad ( Fig. 19e).

Diagnosis. Very similar to O. bifurcatus in appearance, but in ventral view the aedeagus of O. quirosae has the ventral processes straight, partially covering the shaft; in lateral view the ventral processes of O. quirosae are curved and separated. In O. bifurcatus the ventral processes in ventral view are more curved and do not cover the shaft; in lateral view the ventral processes are separated from the shaft.

Distribution. Known only from Costa Rica; 200–2600 m.

Etymology. This species is named in honor of Dora Quirós in recognition of her loan of specimens and support given to the first author while beginning his Masters studies.
