Material examined: Brazil: holotype of Givira watsoni Schaus, 1901 , Bnito Prov. , Pernambuco, Type №18594 (Genitalia slide by P. Gentili 85.286) ( USNM) ; 1♂, Bahia, Jequié , S 13°56′ W 40°11′, III.2012, leg. Hubert Thöny (Genitalpräparat Heterocera № 28.637) ( MWM) GoogleMaps ; 1♂, Bahia, Cipó , 700 m, XI.1999, leg. Hubert Thöny ( RYB) ; 1♂, São Paulo, Miracatu , 700 m, II.1998, leg. Hubert Thöny (Genitalpräparat Heterocera № 28.494) ( MWM) .

Diagnosis. Morphologically, the species is most close to H. guarani and H. invetita , from which it differs in a series of external and morphological characters: the contrasting pattern on the fore wing (dark-brown transverse bands alternate with the beige background of the wing); the narrow elongated harpe in the valve basally and the small mastoid harpe at abdominal edge of valve; the tiny saccus and the short almost straight phallus.

Notes. Givira watsoni Schaus, 1901 was recombined to the genus Langsdorfia Hübner, 1821 ( Dyar 1940). The study of the male genitalia (presence of the special triangular harpe in the valve basally and the small harpe at the abdominal edge of the valve) showed the attribution of this species to the genus Hypopta .

Distribution. Brazil (Pernambuco, Bahia and São Paulo state).
