The common vole was first recorded on Moricsala Island by K.Kupffer ( Laiviņa & Laiviņš 1980). Found also during the trapping of small mammals in 1989 in bushes between the cost and meadow nearby the forester’s house “Kalviņi”. Species inhabits opened, semi-open grasslands including coastal zone of the island. Probably its occurrence has decreased as proportion of grasslands also has decreased.
