Distribution in India: West Bengal, Sikkim ( Mandal & Maulik 1997); Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur ( Irungbam et al. 2020). Global records: Bhutan ( Swinhoe 1901); Nepal, southern China, Thailand, Vietnam ( Zolotuhin and Pinratana 2005).

Remarks: Apart from nominate subspecies, Kunugia fulgens jianchuanensis (Tsai & Chou, 1976) is known from China by Kishida (1993). Zolotuhin and Pinratana (2005) erroneously mentioned holotype deposited in ZMHU.
