Remarks. See the discussion of the status of the type-species Batillipes mirus in Kristensen & Mackness (2000). Batillipes caudatus was incorrectly synonymised with B. mirus by Marcus (1929) and is still recognized as a junior synonym by Guidetti and Bertolani (2005).
