Diagnosis. (Modified from Schönmann 1994): Comparatively large size (3.00– 4.25 mm), body oval and strongly acute in apical portion; distinctly convex, with complete surface shining; color mostly brown to dark black. Head and pronotum covered with dense and regular punctures; punctation of elytra much smaller and sparser than that on head and pronotum. Distal part of aedeagus with pointed construction in most species except Pelthydrus grossus sp. nov. and Pelthydrus subgrossus sp. nov. which have very thick parameres. Median lobe with small corona in all the species of this group.
Distribution. China, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam.
