TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Pernambuco .
DISTRIBUTION: N. Argentina and N. W. Peru to N.C. Texas, S. W. New Mexico and Arizona ( U.S.A.).
COMMENT: See Cabrera, 1961:319; see also Thomas, 1911, Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1911: 140, for discussion of type locality. JJM and RMW follow Thomas in designating Mexico as the type locality of this species.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix III ( Guatemala).
