Salacia verrucosa was described by Wight (1838) based on material by William Griffith from Mergui, Myanmar. In the protologue no type has been given apart from ‘Mergui- communicated by Griffith’. Four specimens were found at CAL, E, K and MH collected by Griffith and annotated by Wight. Specimen placed at K ( K 000669978), which best matches with the protologue, is designated here as lectotype, whilst the remaining at E, Griffith 977 ( E 00179087), at CAL, Griffith 888 ( CAL 0000007475) and Griffith s.n. ( MH, sh. no. 64769) as syntypes.
