Typus: MALAYSIA. Sabah ( Borneo): between Tambunan and Korikut, II.1930, S. L. Gibbs 3030 ( holo-: BM [ BM000958510 ]!).

Distribution and ecology. – Benstonea gibbsiana is known only from lowland rainforests (> 800 m) in Sabah (Borneo) ( Fig. 4B View Fig ).
