Ecology. Endogeic species (Zicsi et al. 2011) found in cultivated soils, forests and meadows (Milutinović et al. 2010).

Distribution in Montenegro. Northern Montenegro: Žabljak, (Karaman & Stojanović 1995), Crno jezero, Valovito jezero, Modro jezero, Sedlo, Bukovac (Mršić 1983, 1990), Barno jezero, Crepuljna poljana, Kanjon Sušice, Gornja Počivala, Tepca, Aluge, Crna poda (Mršić 1990), eastern Prokletije, Čakor, Vuča (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991), Kolašin, Ribnica, Biševo (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991), Bijelo Polje (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991, Karaman & Stojanović 1995), Canyon of Lazarova Reka, Biogradska Gora Mt., Bjelasica (Stojanović & Karaman 2003): southern Montenegro, Kotor (Karaman & Stojanović 1995), Gulf of Boka Kotorska (Stojanović & Karaman 2003), Titograd (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991).

Zoogeographical distribution type. Native to the Palearctic, but a widely distributed peregrine species (Csuzdi et al. 2011).
