Andrena (Derandrena) vandykei Cockerell, 1936 View in CoL

[ Holotype: CASC; ♂ Cypress Ridge, Marin Co., California, USA; April 6, 1921 ]

This species is found in the CFP and is an early-flying spring species that specializes on pollen from Arctostaphylos Adans. (Ribble 1967) . There is a historical record from the Coastal Sage Matorral collected at 19.1 mi. south of Ensenada ( Ribble 1968). The BBPT collected 12 specimens (6 ♀, 6 ♂) in the Chaparral at Rancho Ojai in March 2016, one female from Piedras Gordas in May 2021, and one male from Rancho Concepción in April 2023 ( MABC; ECOAB). See fig. 8.
