Ashmeadiella (Ashmeadiella) prosopidis (Cockerell, 1897) View in CoL

[ Type: USNM; ♀ Mesilla , New Mexico, USA; May 7]

Ashmeadiella prosopidis View in CoL specializes on pollen from plants in the family Fabaceae View in CoL , including Dalea View in CoL L., Olneya A. Gray View in CoL , Parkinsonia View in CoL L., Prosopis L., and Psorothamnus Rydb. ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . This species is widely distributed within the BCP and was previously reported in the Lower Colorado Desert and Gulf Coast by SEMC and UCRC ( GBIF 2023). We reviewed specimens (2 ♂, 1 ♀) collected in the Lower Colorado Desert in April 1939 (CASC). The CARCIB team collected this species in the Vizcaíno Desert in October 2015 (1 ♂), and Magdalena Plains in September, October 2016, and November 2017 (3 ♀). Additionally, the BBPT collected specimens in most inland ecoregions during this project, with the exception of the Succulent Coastal Matorral and those from the Tropical Cape region (Supplementary material 1). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 242.
