Ashmeadiella (Ashmeadiella) prosopidis (Cockerell, 1897)

Ashmeadiella prosopidis specializes on pollen from plants in the family Fabaceae , including Dalea L., Olneya A. Gray , Parkinsonia L., Prosopis L., and Psorothamnus Rydb. ( Fowler 2020) . This species is widely distributed within the BCP and was previously reported in the Lower Colorado Desert and Gulf Coast by SEMC and UCRC ( GBIF 2023). We reviewed specimens (2 ♂, 1 ♀) collected in the Lower Colorado Desert in April 1939 (CASC). The CARCIB team collected this species in the Vizcaíno Desert in October 2015 (1 ♂), and Magdalena Plains in September, October 2016, and November 2017 (3 ♀). Additionally, the BBPT collected specimens in most inland ecoregions during this project, with the exception of the Succulent Coastal Matorral and those from the Tropical Cape region (Supplementary material 1).
