The syntypes of petrii have been examined by Arnold (1980) in the morphological revision of the genus Stenodactylus , where photographs of one of them can be seen. We therefore consider certain that they belong to the species currently called Stenodactylus petrii .
Name-bearing type: three extant syntypes, Natural History Museum BMNH 1946.8.23.27–29 (formerly 97.10.28.23–25). Type locality: Tel el Amarna, Egypt.
Proposed status: Stenodactylus petrii Anderson, 1896 .
