Type species: ‘ Borealestes ’ mussettae Sigogneau Russell, 2003 .

Etymology: The genus is derived from one of the Iron Age Celtic tribes, the Dobunni, that occupied the region around Kirtlington where the holotype was discovered, and the Greek δόντι, tooth.
