Etymology. The specific name communis means common in Latin, referring to this species sharing characters in common with both of its two related species.
Type materials. Holotype female from litter under rock, 40° 38' 41''N, 39° 08' 52''E, 714 m. a.s.l., 10 October 2014, Harşit Valley , TURKEY. Paratypes: 2 females and 2 males the same data.
Remarks. This new species resembles Stigmaeus uzunolukensis Özçelik & Doğan, 2011 and S. obtectus Summers, 1962 in the presence of post-ocular bodies, absence of eyes, similar leg setal formulas, and bearing one pair of genital and three pairs of aggenital setae. But it differs from S. uzunolukensis in the shape of the dorsal body setae (most of the setae not widened, with barbed tips, only a few setae slightly widened in the new species vs. most of the setae distinctly widened and comb-shaped distally in S. uzunolukensis ), c 2 the longest of the dorsal setae in S. communis sp. nov. while ve is the longest in S. uzunolukensis , ratio vi/ve 1.08 vs. 0.39 in S. uzunolukensis , and bigger body size (length of body 450 (457–479), width 216 (184–206) in the new species vs. (length 322 (300– 350), width 171 (150–200) in S. uzunolukensis ) ( Özçelik & Doğan 2011).
Stigmaeus communis sp. nov. can be separated from S. obtectus by the shape of the dorsal body setae. In the type specimens of S. obtectus the dorsal body setae terminate abruptly in jagged splinters as though broken or chopped ( Summers 1962). The new species can also be separated from the Turkish specimen of S. obtectus described by Koç & Ayyıldız (1997) by the distinctly smaller body size (length of body 630, width 294 in the Turkish S. obtectus ), setae vi and ve barbed (smooth in the Turkish S. obtectus ), higher ratio ve / sci (1.65 in the new species vs. 1.3 in the Turkish S. obtectus ), and the different number of setae on leg genu II and femur IV (four and two setae respectively in the new species vs. each bearing three setae in the Turkish S. obtectus ) ( Koç & Ayyıldız 1997).
