Type:— MADAGASCAR. Central Madagascar, Andrangaloaka, August 1880, G. W. Parker s.n. (lectotype Herb. K barcode K 000232805!), available for examination online at http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/getImage.do?imageBarcode= K 000232805), designated by Smith et al. 2021b: 75).

Designations not validly published:—“ Bryophyllum peltatum ” [( Baker 1883: 140) ex] Hort., nom. inval., ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 29.1), a ‘name’ sometimes encountered in the horticultural trade (see Descoings 2003: 168);

“ Kalanchoe peltata var. typica ” Boiteau & Mannoni (1948a: 8), nom inval. ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 24.3).

Nomenclatural note:—The typification of the name Kalanchoe peltata View in CoL and its basionym, Kitchingia peltata View in CoL , was dealt with by Smith et al. (2021b: 75).

Taxonomic notes:— Kalanchoe peltata is an accepted species (see Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau 1995: 46–52, Descoings 2003: 168, and Smith et al. 2021b: 75–77). Apart from Kalanchoe peltata var. peltata , i.e., the autonymic variety, Kalanchoe peltata var. mandrakensis ( Perrier de la Bâthie 1923: 453) Boiteau & Mannoni (1948a: 8) [see no. 11, below] and Kalanchoe peltata var. stapfii (Raymond-Hamet & Perrier de la Bâthie 1915: 68) Perrier de la Bâthie (1928: 21) [see no. 12, below] are also upheld ( Smith et al. 2021b: 75–77).

Kalanchoe peltata is included in Kalanchoe subg. Kitchingia .
