TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, New South Wales, Liverpool Plains .
DISTRIBUTION: Western Australia; formerly in South Australia, Northern Territory, S Queensland, W New South Wales, and NW Victoria (Archer, in Tyler, 1979; Waithman, 1979).
STATUS: Rare.
SYNONYMS: fortis.
COMMENTS: Formerly included in Dasyurinus . The New Guinea records of this species actually refer to D. spartacus .
