TYPE LOCALITY: Not specified. Restricted by Howell (1918:33) to the mouth of Severn River, Ontario, Canada .
DISTRIBUTION: Alaska and Canada, NW USA to S California and W South Dakota (Black Hills), NE USA to S Appalachian Mtns.
STATUS: U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered as G. s. coloratus and G. s. fuscus.
