DISTRIBUTION: Tien Shan Mtns in Kirgizistan and SE Kazakhstan.

SYNONYMS: arenicola (Rail, 1935); rolli ( Kuznetsov, 1948).

COMMENTS: Subgenus Spermophilus ( Gromov et al., 1965:198) .
