Cyana bianca ( Walker, 1856) View in CoL
( Figs 1 View Figures 1–10 , 11 View Figures 11–14 )
Bizone Bianca Walker, 1856 View in CoL , List of the Specimens of Lepidopterous Insects in the Collection of the British Museum 7: 1684 (Type locality: “Hindostan”).
Type material examined. Holotype ( Figs 1 View Figures 1–10 , 11 View Figures 11–14 ): male, “Hind[ostan]” / “ Bizone bianca type Walk.” / “ Bianca n.” / “Type” / “226” / “501” / “A, Walker‟s type of Bizone bianca 7-1684” / “ TYPE LEP.: No. 429 Bizone bianca Walker HOPE DEPT. OXFORD ” (Coll. OUMNH).
Diagnosis. Forewing length is 13 mm in the male holotype. Cyana bianca ( Fig. 1 View Figures 1–10 ) is most similar externally to C. juliettae ( Fig. 2 View Figures 1–10 ) and C. carmina ( Figs 3, 4 View Figures 1–10 ), but can be distinguished by the red parts of its ante- and postmedial lines being less broadened posteriorly. In addition, its black outer margin of the antemedial line is stronger curved at costa than that of C. carmina . In the male genital capsule ( Fig. 11 View Figures 11–14 ), the valva apex is slightly broader than that of C. juliettae ( Fig. 14 View Figures 11–14 ) and C. carmina ( Figs 12, 13 View Figures 11–14 ). The vesica shape of C. bianca is most similar to that of C. carmina , but differs by its smaller dorsal medial diverticulum, narrower dorsal distal diverticulum covered with weaker spinules and granulation, larger apical diverticulum, smaller lateral diverticulum bearing narrower cluster of smaller spinules, and less granulated ventral distal diverticulum bearing smaller patch of spinules. The female is unknown.
Distribution. India ( Walker 1856). The species‟ distribution needs clarification based on freshly collected materials.
