Habitat. Cemented mostly to the undersides of rocks at low water mark.

Distribution. This oyster has been found only in the harbour at Pointe Monier.

Remarks. This is a small (3 cm) flat oyster with weak marginal plications and is typically rayed with purple. Strong ostreine chomata are restricted to the

adjacent hinge margins. Given the enormous variation in S. cucullata these may represent this species but the almost subtidal habitat is unusual.
