Type species: Qinococcus podocarpus Wu , sp. n.
Diagnosis. The same as for the family.
Etymology. The generic name is derived from that of the Qin Dynasty in Chinese history, meaning old, combined with the Latinised suffix “ -coccus ” (which stems from the Greek masculine noun κόκκος (cóccos) meaning “berry”), referring to the spherical, ovoid, or generally rounded shape of the adult female prosoma.
Remark. The genus is monotypic at present.
