Tree 1.5– 8 m. Young stems, leaf blades beneath, inflorescence and hypanthium covered with barbellate hairs. Flowers 5-merous, calyx lobes short and rounded with inconspicuous teeth.
Distribution in Peru:—Montane forests on eastern slopes, at high elevations until the timberline between 2900 and 3150 m.
