Tree 9 m. Young branchlets, petioles, primary leaf nerves beneath and inflorescences puberulous with pinoid hairs (only for Peruvian specimens). Young branchlets quadrangular. Leaf blades elliptic, ciliolate to crenulate (and mucronate in Peruvian specimens), glabrous above, 5-nerved. Flowers 5-merous.
Distribution in Peru:—Montane forest on eastern slopes, at 1979 m.
