Proprioseiopsis parabelizensis Guanilo & Moraes n. sp.

( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 )

Diagnosis. Characterized by having dorsal shield and all dorsal setae smooth; seta j3 slightly longer than distance between its base and that of seta z4; seta z2 distinctly longer than z4; sternal and ventrianal shields reticulate; genital shield striate laterally; movable and fixed cheliceral digits with 2 and 8 teeth, respectively; calyx of spermatheca bell-shaped.

FEMALE. (3 specimens measured)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield smooth, with 13 pairs of visible poroids and 2 pairs of visible pores, 411 (370–438) long and 297 (275–325) wide; j1 32 (30–34), j3 89 (85–92), j4 6 (5–6), j5 3 (3–4), j6 10 (8–11), J5 7, z2 57 (52–62), z4 41 (37–45), z5 6, Z1 22 (20–24), Z4 119 (113–130), Z5 101 (100–102), s4 123 (115–135), S2 11 (10–12), S4 8 (7–9), S5 7 (6–9), r3 25 (23–27), R1 8 (6–10). All setae smooth.

Venter. Sternal shield reticulate; posterior margin concave; distances between st1-st3 54 (48–62) and st2- st2 79 (78–80). Genital shield striate laterally; distance between st5-st5 114 (113–115). Ventrianal shield reticulate, pentagonal, anterior margin slightly concave, 120 (113–133) long and 123 (120–126) wide at level of ZV2; with 3 pairs of preanal setae (JV1, JV2 and ZV2); JV4, JV5, ZV1 and ZV3 on soft cuticle; JV5 82 (75– 87); rounded preanal pores mesad and slightly posterior to JV2. Two pairs of metapodal shields.

Peritreme. Extending almost to level of j1.

Chelicera. Movable digit 37 (36–38) long, with 2 teeth; fixed digit 35 (34–36) long, with 8 teeth.

Spermatheca. Calyx bell-shaped, 20 (18–22) long; base of major duct distinctly sclerotized, giving to atrium a forked appearance.

Legs. Macrosetae sharp: SgeI 25, SgeII 25, SgeIII 27(25–30), SgeIV 64 (60–71), StiIV 46 (44–50), StIV 89 (83–100). Chaetotaxy: genu II 2, 2/0-2/0, 1; genu III 1, 2/1-2/0, 1.

MALE: Unknown.

Locality and type material. Holotype female and four paratype females: Arequipa, Camaná, El Cardo (16°36'34''S, 72°43'45''W), 16-VII-2006, on Ricinus communis L, A. D. Guanilo, deposited at ESALQ-USP. Four paratype females: same collection data as holotype, deposited at MHN.

Etymology. The name parabelizensis refers to the similarly between this new species and Proprioseiopsis belizensis (Yoshida-Shaul & Chant) .

Remarks. This new species is similar to P. belizensis , P. ovatus and P. dominigos . Proprioseiopsis belizensis differs by having reticulate dorsal and genital shields. Proprioseiopsis ovatus differs by having the setae j3, z2 and z4 approximately 0.7, 0.7 and 0.5 times as long, respectively, as those setae on the new species. Proprioseiopsis dominigos differs by having seta z2 shorter than z4. This new species belongs to belizensis species group of Chant & McMurtry (2005a).
