Accepted name. Senna aversiflora (Herb.) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (1982: 529) .
Notes. Cassia aversiflora was described and illustrated by Herbert in Sims (1826: plate 2638), based on a collection of seeds from Brazil. No information was provided about the type material in the original description, and we did not find any other specimens that could represent the original material. As such, we are designating the illustration of Herbert in Botanical Magazine, plate 2638, as the lectotype. We also feel the need to designate an interpretive type, since the illustration provided by Herbert does not include the fruits (an important character for Senna aversiflora ). We are therefore designating here the specimen deposited at the New York Herbarium (NY), under barcode NY 00582685, as the epitype, according to Art. 9.9 of ICNB ( Turland et al. 2018).
