Ecology: very common, usually in heavilydisturbed vegetation like scrub or abandoned shifting cultivation areas, often along roads, or along streams; on clay loam, sandy, and sandstone soils, up to 2100 m elevation ( Slik et al. 2000).

Distribution: India (including Andaman and Nicobar Islands), China, Taiwan, Japan (Ryukyu Islands), Myanmar, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra (incl. Anambas Islands), Christmas Island, Java, Borneo, Philippines, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda Islands (Bali, Timor, West Sumbawa, Sumba, Wetar), Moluccas, New Guinea, Australia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati ( Slik et al. 2000).
