Distribution.— Thailand, Laos.
Ecology.—Along open streams, near waterfalls, in moist exposed areas in gallery forest or disturbed evergreen forest, 100–300 m alt.
Vernacular name.—Muang si udon ( ม่วงศรีอุดร, Thai).
Notes.—This species is recognized by its glabrous leaf sheaths and sepals. Its capsules are purplish-white, ellipsoid, and longer than the sepals, which are the largest of any species in Thailand.
