Diagnosis. ♀: fully winged ( Figs 31D, E View FIGURE 31 ); rarely brachypterous (Figs 41A, B); occipital carina complete; palpal formula 6/3; antenna without ADOs; forewing with three cells enclosed by pigmented veins (C, R and 1Cu) ( Figs 31D, E View FIGURE 31 ); forewing with 2r-rs&Rs vein and pterostigma ( Figs 31D, E View FIGURE 31 ); distal part of 2r-rs&Rs vein much shorter than proximal part ( Figs 31D, E View FIGURE 31 ), occasionally slightly shorter, as long as, or longer than proximal part; metapectal-propodeal disc usually with transverse posterior keel ( Fig. 34A View FIGURE 34 ); protarsus chelate ( Figs 31D, E View FIGURE 31 ); inner side of enlarged claw with proximal prominence bearing one long bristle ( Fig. 33C View FIGURE 33 ); tibial spurs 1/1/2. ♂: fully winged ( Figs 32A, B View FIGURE 32 ); rarely brachypterous; occipital carina complete; vertex of head usually without two oblique keels connecting lateral ocelli to occipital carina; palpal formula 6/3; forewing with three cells enclosed by pigmented veins (C, R and 1Cu) ( Figs 32A, B View FIGURE 32 ); forewing with 2r-rs&Rs vein and pterostigma ( Figs 32A, B View FIGURE 32 ); distal part of 2r-rs&Rs vein much shorter than proximal part ( Figs 32A, B View FIGURE 32 ), occasionally slightly shorter, as long as, or longer than proximal part; pterostigma less than 4 × as long as broad ( Figs 32A, B View FIGURE 32 ); metapectal-propodeal disc usually with transverse posterior keel ( Fig. 34C View FIGURE 34 ); paramere without large inner branch wrapping penis ( Fig. 35F View FIGURE 35 ); tibial spurs 1/1/2.
Distribution. Worldwide.
Hosts. Cicadellidae ( Guglielmino & Olmi 1997, 2006, 2007; Guglielmino et al. 2013) ( Figs 32 View FIGURE 32 C-E).
World species. 464 species are known, 106 in the Afrotropical region.
Remarks. Larvae of Anteon were described by Ponomarenko (1975b) and more recently by Guglielmino et al. (2017a). Leafhoppers parasitized by Anteon species usually show dryinid sacs situated in a latero-ventral position between the prothorax and the mesothorax ( Fig. 32C View FIGURE 32 ), rarely positioned on the ventral side.
