Gonatopus australis (Ceballos) : Olmi 1984: 1593; 1994c: 11; 2006: 48; Azevedo et al. 2010: 894.

Description. ♀. Apterous; body length 4.3–5.0 mm. Head black, except mandible, clypeus, malar space and a nar- row stripe along orbits yellow; antenna brown, except scape yellow; mesosoma and metasoma black; legs yellow, except coxae partly black and clubs of femora partly brown. Head excavated, shiny, granulate, with slight or strong longitudinal keels on frons. Palpal formula 6/3. Pronotum shiny, smooth, granulate, crossed by strong transverse impression; in some specimens disc of pronotum unsculptured. Mesoscutum granulate, with some longitudinal keels, with two lateral pointed apophyses. Metapectal-propodeal disc slightly granulate, sculptured by many transverse or longitudinal striae, with top smooth; metanotum, propodeal declivity, mesopleuron and metapleuron transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture obsolete. Protarsomere 1 shorter than 4 (15:19). Enlarged claw ( Fig. 204E View FIGURE 204 ) with one small subapical tooth and one row of 5–8 lamellae. Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 204E View FIGURE 204 ) with inner side proximally serrate, with two rows of at least 17–22 lamellae extending beyond 0.5 × length of protarsomere; apex with at least 13–17 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Material examined. Type: ♀ holotype: MADAGASCAR: Toliara, Bekily , IV.1933, A. Seyrig leg. ( MNHN) . Other material: DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO: Katanga, Mitwaba , 1♀ ( CAS). LESOTHO: Mamathes , 2.XI.1952, C. Jacot Guillarmod leg. , 1♀ ( NHMUK). MADAGASCAR: Toliara, Bekily , IV.1933, A. Seyrig leg. , 1♀ ( MRAC). SOUTH AFRICA: Western Cape, Cape Town, Milnerton , I.1926, II.1926 , R.E. Turner leg., 5♀♀ (4 in NHMUK, 1 in AMNH).

Hosts. Unknown.

Distribution. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, South Africa.
