Biology. The biology of this species was partly studied in Mauritius by Williams (1956). The pupal stage in Mauritius lasts 18–24 days in March-April.
Natural enemies. In Mauritius this species may be parasitized by Cheiloneurus gonatopodis R. Perkins 1906 (Encyrtidae) ( Williams 1956, 1958; Prinsloo 1983; Ganeshan & Williams 2000; Guerrieri & Viggiani 2005).
Distribution. Gambia, Kenya, La Reunion, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, South Africa.
Remarks. Gonatopus similis Brues and Pseudogonatopoides mauritianus Williams were considered synonyms by Olmi (1984) after comparison of ♀♀. However, only the study of ♂ specimens from Mauritius can confirm this synonymy.
