Centaureae regiae var. regiae affinis , a qua spinis terminalibus appendicum mediorum 5–8 mm (nec (8–) 9–14 mm) longis, appendicibus phyllorum mediorum vel interioribus purpuris vel severe purpuris (nec albidis, interdum creamis) differt.
Type:— IRAN. Prov. Kermanshah: Kermanshah toward Ravansar, 3 km to Ravansar , 1340–1350 m, 27 May 2014, Negaresh & Kamalnejad 114 (holotype herb. Negaresh.!, isotypes FUMH!, herb. Negaresh.!, RUH!)
Terminal spine of median appendages 5–8 mm long; median appendages purple, inner appendages intensely purple.
Etymology: —The epithet purpurea means ‘appendages purple’.
Taxonomic and distribution remarks: — Centaurea regia var. purpurea is endemic to Kermanshah Province, W Iran ( Fig. 60 View FIGURE 60 ). It is distinguished from C. regia var. regia by having purple appendages.
