Callirhytis aquaticae ASHMEAD 1887: 144 . Female, gall.
Type material examined – Holotype female “Type No. 2809 USNM ”, “Collection Ashmead” in the USNM. This is the only known specimen of this species.
Biology – The only known female was cut from a “hard knotty swelling” gall on Q. nigra L. in March ( ASHMEAD 1887). Such stem swelling-like galls are typical for Callirhytis species but are not typical of Bassettia . Distribution – USA: Florida ( ASHMEAD 1887).
